Four years ago, the SC Wildlife Federation entered into a partnership with the SC Department of Natural Resources to plan a statewide celebration to be held in the center of the state at the Cohen Campbell Fisheries Center.

On September 27, we will hold our 4th statewide NHF day event from 9am 4pm at the Fisheries Center on Fish Hatchery Road in West Columbia. Thanks to the generosity and support of the SC Lowcountry Chapter of Safari Club International, there is no admission charge. It is a wonderful family outing opportunity.

Everyone that attends has the opportunity to experience for perhaps the first time: shotgun and rifle shooting, archery shooting, crossbow shooting, and air rifle shooting. There are also many fishing activities to include: an introduction to fishing, a fishing simulator, a kids casting contest, cleaning and cooking fish demo, bass-fishing demo and fly fishing and fly tying demonstrations. Many other demonstrations are scheduled throughout the day such as: a retriever demo, falconry demo, trapping demo, boating safety demonstrations, tree stand safety demo, and crustacean harvesting.

These are just a sampling of the many events and exhibits that will take place. There is truly something for everyone at the NHF Day at Cohen Campbell Fisheries Center on September 27 from 9am to 4pm. Come for the morning, the afternoon or for the day.

There will be a concessionaire on the grounds so that you can purchase your lunch or you can bring a picnic and eat on the grounds.

So come join us for an introduction to the outdoors and to honor sportsmen and sportswomen who over the past century and into the future play an important role in conservation in this country.

Larry Gilbert, Past President
