Bateleur Safaris, South Africa, June, 2002.

Chapter Members Mark & Holly Peterson purchased this hunt at the Annual Fundraiser in 2000.

We had a wonderful time with our hosts, Buks and Elna Botha.  Along with a number of exceptional trophies, we returned with very pleasant memories of our time in the bush with Buks and the fabulous meals prepared for us by Elna.

Buks and Elna are loyal supporters of our Chapter.   For information about booking a hunt or photo safari with Bateleur Safaris, consult their website at www.bateleur-safaris.com

Nice Klipspringer shot with Buks' .338 Win. Mag. and 250 grain solids to avoid damaging the cape. He'll be mounted life-size on a rocky perch.

A mature Tsessebe bull shot on the Baltimore Game Reserve north of Potgeitersrus.

Magnificent 32" Waterbuck, also shot on the Baltimore Game Reserve. We saw several 30" + Waterbucks on the Baltimore property.

Holly with her first warthog. She had the tusks made into a necklace and a pendent by a South African goldsmith.

Relaxing around the campfire at the Baltimore Game Reserve with Buks and his assistant PH, Julian.

Julian grilling game steaks for dinner.

Kudu coming into a waterhole. They really enjoyed the natural rock salt blocks that the rancher had put out for his cattle.

Holly and her 54 1/2" Kudu bull. This bull had a huge body; his neck was 44" around!

A really beautiful Impala ram with unusual flared horn tips. He's going to look great on the wall!

Holly with an ancient boar warthog. This old guy had really worn his tusks down. He should make an interesting skull mount.

A good Steenbok ram shot at 280 yards with Buks' .338 Win. Mag. This little guy is going to be mounted life-size.

Holly with a good Springbok ram. Notice the ruff that they raise over the hindquarters when they "pronk."

Bushpig sow taken on the last night of our hunt. These nocturnal wild hogs can be ferocious and a real challenge to hunt.

Holly with her Blue Wildebeest. She shot him from 300 yards offhand over shooting sticks using my .300 Jarrett.

Terrific 7 7/8" Mountain Reedbuck! This guy led us on an exhausting chase up and down a very treacherous canyon that I nicknamed "Death Valley."

The front porch of Bateleur Safaris Lodge where we enjoyed Elna's great breakfasts and lunches every day.

Outdoor patio where Buks cooked wild game over an open fire for us each night under the Southern Cross and the Milky Way!

Buks, Elna and their daughter with Holly and me. Book your next hunt with Bateleur Safaris, you'll have a great time!
