Looking for leopard tracks near a waterhole. Nicky and Dirk had shot several leopards in this area.

Hanging the bait near the waterhole after finding fresh leopard tracks.

Track found the next day after the leopard "hit" the bait. .375 H&H cartridge for size comparison.

View from inside the blind 75 yards from the bait.

My .375 H&H tied and taped into position aimed directly at the bait.

The bait can be seen at the end of the shooting lane in the thick bush.

Dawid looks for leopard tracks in a riverbed. We drove hundreds of kilometers daily checking baits and looking for tracks.

Hanging a bait in another riverbed where Holly and I eventually shot both our leopards.

The track left at the bait by my leopard the night before I shot him. What a thrill to find a track like this at a freshly "hit" bait!

Dirk scanning for game from an Erongo Mountain vantage point.

The same bait where I shot my leopard was hit again the next night. Holly shot her leopard there the following night.

The track left at the bait by Holly's leopard.

Safari Holly getting settled in the leopard blind.

Unhappy Safari Holly getting hosed down with mosquito repellent by Nicky Nolte!

Getting the .300 Jarrett set in position pre-aimed at the bait.

We had 9 baits on 5 ranches covering several hundred square kilometers. At 7 of these we used live sheep for bait in addition to the meat.

Each day we checked the baits and fed the sheep. We joked with Nicky that he had become a Professional Shepherd instead of a PH.

Natural camoflauge.

Band of Burchell Zebras.

Burchell Zebra Stallion.

Burchell Zebra mare and foal.
