Holly and I purchased Alphonso Fabres' hunt donation at the Chapter Fundraiser in 2001.   Accompanied by our friends, Dr. Wade Crum and Stephanie Hook, from Warren, PA, we took the trip in September of 2003.

We had a wonderful time sightseeing in Madrid and touring the incredible Cathedrals in Toledo and Salamanca.  While in Madrid, we attended the bullfights and visited the Royal Palace and several museums, including the world famous Prado Museum.

Alphonso's hunting lodge outside of Salamanca is spectacular.  Full of hunting trophies from all over the world, the lodge is a fascinating place.  The food and wine were outstanding.  The guides were good hunters and the game was plentiful. 

After all the big-game had been taken, a morning of driven red-leg partridge shooting proved to be a highlight of the trip.  A horseback ride through the Spanish countryside was another unforgettable experience.

With all the tags filled and several days remaining, we rented a car and drove to the beach in Portugal for three days.  Another unexpected bonus!
