Julian Ohmer was born with a disabling condition called spina
bifida, but he has never let that stop him from pursuing his dreams!
Julian and his father, Jeff, participated in our
1st Annual
Wheelchair Hunt at Nemours Planatation and hunted with me (Mark
Peterson) recently at
Hamilton Ridge.
The Outdoor Dream Foundation, Disabled Hunters of America and
Hunt of a Lifetime are organizations that make it possible for the disabled or young
people with life-threatening diseases to realize their dreams of participating
in outdoor adventures.
There are many more people like Julian who would love to
participate in outdoor activities such as target shooting, archery, hunting,
fishing, crabbing and horseback riding. The Low Country Chapter looks
forward to sponsoring many more outdoor events for disabled or ill children and
adults.
Here are photos of the trophies that Julian Ohmer has taken
on hunts sponsored by the organizations mentioned above.

Thanks to Norm Sauceman of Disabled Hunters of North America, Julian had the
opportunity to hunt with Dave Watson in December of 2001 at Wilderness Hunting
Lodge in Monterey, Tennessee where he harvested this 450 pound Russian Boar with
his .243.

Julian's trophy hog hangs next to his father's hog. Julian's 8 point buck
in the middle was taken last year.

Julian and his father rest on the 650 lb bull elk Julian shot at full stride
with his 7mm/08.

Julian sits atop his 4 x 5, 2-year old, bull elk taken on the Quinlan Ranch in
Chama, New Mexico on 12-12-2004. Brian Quinlan, guide and owner, is in the
black hat and Julian's father, Jeff, is in the center. Hunt Of A
Lifetime gave Julian this great opportunity.

Julian's Rocky Mountain elk joins his first white tail on the left, a 6 point
from 1999, and his 8 point taken in 2002.

New Mexican trophy Oryx adorns Julian's living room wall.

Julian deserves to smile holding on to his 485 lb Oryx taken at 230 yards with
one shot from his 7mm/08 purchased for him by Brad Jones of the Outdoor Dream
Foundation. His Oryx unofficially scored 81 7/8". Julian is going
to have SCI verify the score. Thanks to The Outdoor Dream Foundation for
this hunt on the Armendaris Ranch in New Mexico.

What do you give someone like Julian for his 21st birthday? Well, he
had never been deep sea fishing, so Captain Eddie at Fripp
Island Marina obliged. It was a great day.
A Note from Julian and his father
"Organizations like those who gave Julian these opportunities cannot be thanked
enough - people like Mark Peterson, Brad Jones, Norm Sauceman, Dave Watson, Mike
Yeary and Tina Patterson.
People think that after these opportunities Julian would not appreciate or be
excited by deer hunting at home. Julian is a true sportsmen and sincerely feels
the best hunt is the one you are on. The opportunity to do so and
the feeling in your heart when the animal enters the cross hairs can never be
replaced or surpassed.
When the adrenalin stops pumping and the next harvest isn't like the first, you
are no longer a sportsmen."
