My wife Tammy & I just completed a 3 night/2day Quail & Dove hunt at Dean Putegnat's Rancho Caracol hunting place in Mexico - about 150 miles south of Harlingen Texas. I can say without reservation that Rancho Caracol turned out to be a "7 Star" hunting and lodging experience. Superb and roomy accommodations, exquisite food and service 24/7, abundant wild & speedy birds, first class equipment, and top-flight guides and bird dogs. From initial contact with the Rancho Caracol staff last year, to airport drop-off in Harlingen for the return trip, Dean's capable staff saw to our needs and comfort 100%. Dean was on hand throughout our trip to take any suggestions we might have to improve the experience. We had none. Rancho Caracol is simply top-flight as it stands. Tam and I have rebooked for a return trip next January. That's the best endorsement (along with Orvis's) that I can offer.
