The Low Country Chapter, and its' Members, work closely with
the Outdoor Dream Foundation to offer young people with life-threatening
illnesses the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities.

Kenny Jarrett hosted a hunt for 10 year-old cancer survivor, Zackary Elliott, on Cowden
Plantation

Here is a description of the Outdoor Dream Foundation's
Mission and programs.
The Outdoor Dream Foundation

Committed to Making a Difference
Our Mission
The Outdoor Dream Foundation began in March of 2004 with the purpose of
granting hunting, fishing and other outdoor dreams for young people 21 and
younger who have had life-threatening illnesses. We recently provided a
trip to Alaska for a young girl whose dream was to go "mushing." She rode
behind an Iditarod sled dog team.
The Foundation was started by a group of dedicated people, including
bankers, doctors, a retired high school coach, people connected with the State
Wildlife Agencies and other businessmen. We are involved in helping young
people across the country.
What We Do
The Outdoor Dream Foundation conducts Fundraisers in the form of Banquets,
many of which feature celebrities from the sports world. NFL great, Larry
Csonka, has become a friend of the Outdoor Dream Foundation. He donates
his time for one Fundraiser a year, and includes some of our Outdoor Dream
children on his hunts so that the rest of the world can meet them via his
nationally syndicated television show, "Csonka Outdoors" and "North to Alaska."
The Foundation is run strictly by volunteers, and all proceeds are used to
grant dreams to these children. We are extremely proud of our dedicated
group of volunteers.
Mentoring Program
The Outdoor Dream Foundation also has a mentoring program in place where we
use 'in-state' hunts and fishing trips that are donated. Most of the
Foundation volunteers are mentors for the program as well as taking part in the
Fundraisers.
The Rewards
The Outdoor Dream Foundation has arrived to offer an added boost of hope and
fun for children who face the daily rigors of battling their horrible disease.
Ren Smith, mother of a recipient said, "I have seen what the Foundation has done
for the kids, and it is a miracle. For a while they forget they've got
cancer."
Such feedback makes our efforts truly rewarding. If you are interested
in donating hunts, fishing trips, time for the mentoring program or a cash
donation that will go to help the youngsters fulfill their outdoor dreams,
please contact us.
Please Help Us
Some children are dealt an immensely difficult hand in life. The
Outdoor Dream Foundation is well on its way to making this world a better place
for these children and everyone else who becomes involved in this wonderful
organization.
