The funds you all are providing will provide materials for waterfowl banding activities in Wildlife Region IV which is the central coastal area of the state. Last year this project banded 824 ducks which included nine different species. This figure also represented 44% of all ducks banded by DNR in the state. Our trapping also included the capture of four pintail hens which were instrumented with satellite transmitters as part of a cooperative pintail movement study being conducted by SCDNR, US Fish and Wildlife Service and Cornell University.

Please know that we sincerely appreciate the support and financial assistance provide to DNR for this waterfowl banding project, and we will be glad to help with informing the public of your cooperation with this project if you so desire.

Again, thanks to all and we will keep in mind your offer of future assistance. Please contact me if you have questions or need additional information.

Attached are some photos of duck banding, trapping and rocket netting.  We do not have a news release specific to banding waterfowl, however you can visit our website at www.dnr.state.sc.us/wild/pintails to learn more about our pintail project.  The same reasons we put transmitters on pintails are the same reasons we band waterfowl.  If you need more info please contact me at any time.   We appreciate your support in our waterfowl efforts and look forward to working with you in the future.
