We are pleased to welcome Terry Blauwkamp as a contributor to our Chapter Website.  Many of you may know him already, as Terry Blauwkamp has been a member of SCI (Safari Club International) since 1984, and has been a contributor to Safari Times for 10 years.

As you read his articles, you will have to soon take note of the old saying, "Been there and done that", really applies to him.

He has been doing the Reloading articles and Seminars for SCI 10 plus years, and has done other seminars around the country including the Dallas Safari Club’s Annual Conventions for the past 3 years, and the SCI San Diego Chapter of SCI 4 times.

He is married to Jo Ann, who is his favorite hunting partner, and she has gone with him to Africa 10 times, while Terry has been there 15 times.

He just loves to do his own gun work, especially rebarreling rifles. He has attended Phil Pilkington’s Custom Gun building classes in Oklahoma, and correct scope mounting is a real "passion" of his.

He also has just finished writing the lead article for MIDWAY USA, about scope mounting that they are going to put in their new Optics Catalog.

He may seem a bit opinionated at times, but I assure you, his opinions are based on experience, not prejudice.

He took his first hunt to Wyoming in 196l with the first rifle he ever built, a 25-06, and has taken 13 hunts in North America for Antelope, Elk, Moose, Caribou, Goats, and Mule Deer, plus his annual treks in Michigan for the Whitetail Deer.

He loves bird shooting about as much as big game, and has shot Quail in Georgia, Pheasants in South Dakota, Iowa, and Michigan. Hunted Ducks in the flooded woods of Arkansas, and shot Doves, Ducks and Deer in Georgia too.

Trap & Skeet, along with Sporting Clays, can keep him occupied all day and (all night reloading shells). He has won about everything there is to win in Western Michigan in Trap & Skeet competition.

He has been reloading ammo since ’59 starting with a little single stage shotgun reloader and then on to rifle the same year.

Terry is on a "first name" basis with folks at Speer and Hornady (bullets), Federal Cartridge, and is on the Barnes (Bullet Co.) Advisory Committee.

He was a personal friend of Jack Carter from Trophy Bonded Bullets too.

He certainly tries to keep shooting and reloading very simple and uses the K.I.S.S. method constantly.

His shotguns are "pretty" nice, but his rifles are the world’s ugliest.

They are usually Black fiberglass stocks with matte finish barrels and scopes. His scopes are very simple, are usually a Leupold 4x or 3-9 Variable.

His motto is: A Gun is only a tool used to propel a bullet into the desired location.

Even if you do not reload, but use only "Factory Ammo", be sure and plan on reading these very informative and interesting articles.

Feel free to contact Terry anytime if you have a question or problem about shooting or reloading at tblauwkamp@superior-sales.com
